Yes, we have all been there, that horrible moment when a presenter clicks on their first slide only to reveal a block of text in size 12. And at that moment in time, the presenter lost the audienceand the audience loses the will to live.
I’ve picked up a few things from the never ending threadmill of presentations that are required as part of my course; the most important is ‘less is more’. I can’t say that enough. The presenter should not only be aware of the subjetc matter, but in order to connect with the audience, must ‘believe’ in the subject matter. For the duration of that presentation they are the most knowledgable person in that room on the subject. Therefore, reading word for word reem’s of text off a slide makes you as knowledgable as everyone else in the room who can read the text off the slide.
A great presentation I found on ‘Death By Powerpoint’
