VT = Viral Tuesday, a round up of my own favourite virals doing the rounds online.
1. I Am Am I Who I Am
Who exactly is iamamiwhoiam is unknown. But since November a series of virals have been released each with bizarre visuals and a dark atmospheric electro soundtrack. The work is not attributed to any act or artist, just to the iamwhoiam name. The virals are succeeding in building anticipation and curiosity amongst viewers due to their secretive nature. It’s widely believed they are part of a marketing campaign to promote a new album by an already established artist. This interest has got fans buzzing as to who is behind the music with the likes of Goldfrapp, Lady Gaga, The Knife and Christina Aguilera amongst the names being thrown forward. Christina bares a resemblance to the girl in one of the videos but the artistic direction would hint more at Goldfrapp. Although it could be from a debut album by a new band, no one actually knows. Here’s the most recent viral, which posted online last Sunday, and the rest of the videos can be found here
2. Steve Jobs introduces Apple Mac 1984
I found this via the Viral Video Chart, I find these little nuggets of tech history interesting. The video is from January 1984 and its amazing to think 26 years ago this was cutting edge technology. With the imminent launch of the Apple iTablet or iSlate or whatever it’s going to be called this viral is a timely reminder or just how far Apple and technology has come. ‘Macintosh Insanely Great!’
3. Google Nexus Ninja
Google have really gotten into viral marketing in the last 12 months. Towards the end of last year they were releasing viral after viral to showcase new services such as Google Googles, Wave and Chrome. This next viral dispenses with the informational slant of past efforts and goes for all out entertainment. It’s all done in stop motion to promote their Nexus one phone.
4. Puma Game We Play
An interesting viral from Puma, it’s part of a series of virals to promote their new collection of clothing.
5. 100 Cheesiest Movie Quotes of all time
Exactly as it sounds!
6. Aids Graffiti (NSFW)
This strange viral is to promote aids prevention and uses graphic animated toilet graffiti to do so. Hence the NSFW tag.
